How it works with Apples
We hand pick our tasty variety of apples: Macintosh, Empire, and Red Delicious. we then weigh them and Separately package the varieties into 4 pound bags. these convenient draw string bags are then put into our roadside honour stand for purchase. the stand is located just outside the orchard at 2249 2nd Concession (just search "apples of Glasgow" in google maps). you can always tell when the stand is open by the bright red doors! the honour part comes into play as you grab a bag of apples after putting exact change into the red tool box. buying a bag? put $5 into the red toolbox located inside the stand. buying 4 bags? put $20 into the red tool box. You get the drill! MacIntosh apples are available at the stand early september, Empire apples are available at the stand mid-september, and Red Delicious are available at the stand early october.
This classic Ontario apple is the first to be harvested in the early fall. Macs are always crisp and tart and taste great with a spoonful of peanut butter. They make a great apple sauce and are a key addition to our delicious cider.
This apple is a cross between MacIntosh and Delicious, taking the best aspects from both type of apple. They are simultaneously tart and sweet and always very crunchy. They make a great pie as they hold their shape well even after being baked.
Last to be harvested but certainly not least is Red Delicious. These apples make the tastiest apple sauce because they are so sweet. Not a Red Delicious fan? We bet ours will have you singing a different tune. Sweet, crunchy and delicious!
